Is my credit card and online donation secure? Are there alternatives?
Donating online is a fast and secure way to make a gift. We take every precaution to protect our donors’ information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline. However, you may also make a credit card transaction by calling us at (800) 448-4570. Or you may mail a check to BDSRA.
How do you spend my money?
BDSRA strives to make every dollar count as we seek a cure for Batten disease. We keep our expenses down with 83 cents of every dollar raised supporting research or program related activities for our families. To learn more, visit Where Your Money Goes.
How do tribute gifts in honor or memory of someone get acknowledged?
BDSRA will mail or email an acknowledgment letter to your designated tribute recipient or immediate family of a loved one informing them of your donation (the amount of the gift is not included). You will receive a gift receipt for income tax purposes. When making your donation online, please be certain to indicate whether your gift is in memory of or in honor of, and provide us with the appropriate way you would like your gift acknowledged (e.g., Mr. Smith, Grandpa Smith, John and Jane Doe, etc.).
Do you issue tax receipts for our donation?
BDSRA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, tax-exempt organization designated by the Internal Revenue Code. Our tax ID number is 91-1397792. You will receive a tax receipt for income tax purposes for your donation. You can expect to receive your receipt letter within three weeks from the date you sent it in. If you are making a recurring donation through your credit card, your contribution will be charged automatically on the day and the frequency you have selected. You will receive an annual statement summarizing your gifts, and your credit card statements serve as an additional record of your contribution.
